PE in school and Sports Competitions

Following the positive feedback from our last PE newsletter, here is your next instalment! PE within the school has been so much fun this term and I’m excited to let you know about some of our plans for 2020.

Sport Squad

The Sport Squad have been doing a great job at leading the various running clubs at lunch times this half term. After the half term break they will be introducing ‘challenge clubs’ for all pupils that involve learning new skills, turn taking and teamwork. These will be introduced to the children during an assembly.

PE Provision

As well as your child’s class teacher providing some fun challenging lessons, we are also lucky to have some outside providers to support our PE provision. Premier Sports coach Mr Cutting will be in school on a Friday to deliver some fantastic PE provision across KS1 and KS2. Reception and Year 1 will be having Ellie Barnes from T800 Crossfit on a Monday afternoon.

Enrichment Days

Our next Enrichment day is ‘West End Musical Day’ Wednesday 26th February where all children shall be taking part in a performing arts day with a ‘School of Rock’ focus. We will also be having ‘Bringing Books to Life’ day on Wednesday 1st April. The enrichment days have always been so much fun.

In order to offer our pupils the opportunity to take part in more physical activity we will been introducing more varied clubs to our pupils. As well as our teacher lead clubs, we shall continue to offer Gymnastics club run by Premier Sport on Fridays after school for Year 1-6 pupils and Football Club for Rec, 1 and 2 after school on Tuesdays. These can be signed up online or phone 01953 499040.

If your child is eligible for pupil premium and would like to join a club do please contact the office staff for any support.

A new ‘Stay Active’ club is being introduced after half term for all pupils to access. This will take place at Friday lunch time and will be led by an outside coach. The games and activities will vary each week and your child is able to join in any session simply by coming along on the day.

We have had more success at local competitions with our Basketball Team coming home with gold medals! Upcoming events include Penathlon, Hockey and Swimming. We also hope to include some of our local schools within the Trust in some friendly intra sport competitions. Watch this space!

I hope you continue to enjoy the addition of the ‘Sports Newsletter’ and find it useful.

Yours sincerely
